this 11 yr old GE constantly dripped out a gallon a day for a month suddenly ,, note the el cheapo plastic made in china water drain valve ,,,turn gas off .. turn water off drain water heater,,, the plastic drain valve was fixed so i couldnt remove it w/out damaging water heater.. ideally buy a water heater w a 3/4 brass water spiget,,never buy one w a plastic..turns out $6 bucks worth of rubber gaskets failed.. so u could never turn it off... same rubber gaskets in hot cold water tub shutoffs that when they fail u swap out..the plastic drain valve failed n handle broke off so i torqued it closed n added the 3/4 brass spiget shutoff ,more fun when the pilot light wouldnt light...i pressed the gas valve to pilot position 5 minutes n hit the igniter button as many times as i could to get it to spark.. .............simple $6 fix vs paying someone $300.........and of course nothing on the internet to explain this style problem,,,,,no debris in water heater,,,,,,,very surprising..lots of good utubes on anything but failed rubber gaskets n hitting the igniter as many times as possible to get it to spark,
