Leafspring forks on a BMW, Indian bikes all used leafspring forks in this time period. Question, who used leafspring forks first???? Indian went to girder front forks after 1945 , correct me if i'm wrong..

As rare as it gets, no not some home made job, a genuine Indian MC manufactured 3 wheeler...

only produced in 45 cubic inchers.

Remember the HD 45 3 wheelers ridden by the notorious meter maids?... the Indan 3 wheeler is much lighter and much faster.

these take the large box or picnic basket on the rear section, just no foto presently.

1935 Indian Chief..progress..Sell or Trade

Loaded the 1935 Chief powerplant in chasis, This 2nd engine has later 1940s barrels, heads, oil pump. Have a correct basket 36 Chief engine also. Another box of parts and this will run.

Indian and HD make use of the rear drive from trans to rear wheel and opposed cylinder technology of BMW and Zundapp.

HD never again uses this design, Indian ceases manufacture in 1953, short lived production.

Interesting to compare the designs. Not good in crashes w/out crash bars, cylinders absorb impact rendering motorcycle out of commission.
